NEW Telescope Control System

We had to say goodbye to our 20 year old telescope control system. It served us well, but it was time to move into more current technology.

Our new partner is Explore Scientific LLC of Springdale, Arkansas who custom designed their PMC-8 for use with our telescope mount. Yesterday we were able to move the telescope for the first time in several months. Yes, it is quite a feat moving a 2000 pound telescope to a pointing accuracy of a few arcminutes and tracking accuracy of a few arcseconds. Kudos to Jerry Hubbell, VP, Engineering and his team for their work on this project.

We are still testing but are very excited about being back online!
